- Many people know that professions are a great way to make gold, but a lot forget about secondary professions. Everyone can use cooking but many don’t bother or want to make it as easy as possible, presenting a great opportunity for us to make gold.
How to get recipes
A few recipes are drops or from vendors around the Broken Isles, but for most you need to give Nomi ingredients to burn. Which ingredients you supply depends on which recipes you want. While you’ll eventually want all of them, prioritise getting the Lavish Suramar Feast and the component ingredients. You can speed up the process if you have alts by focusing on one ingredient per toon as you can then send over the cooked food to whichever has the feast recipe.
| Food | Where to get level 1 | What Nomi needs to upgrade |
|---|---|---|
| Barrcuda Mrglgagh | Quest- Murlocs: The Next Generation | Leyblood, Black Barracuda |
| Drogbar Style Salmon | World Drop- Drogbar | Highmountain Salmon |
| Koi Scented Stormray | Vendor- Markus Hjolbruk in Suramar | Runescale Koi, Stormray |
| Leybeque Ribs | Drop- Myonix in Suramar | Leyblood, Big Gamy Ribs |
| Suramar Surf and Turf | Combine Recipe Surf and Recipe Turf | Runescale Koi, Lean Shank |
| Lavish Suramar Feast | Nomi. Must have the other 5 recipes | Any of the above + bacon |
I recommend using an add on such as BadNomi or NomiCakes to help you track which recipes you still need and queue the correct ingredients in order to obtain them.

Getting Ingredients
The majority of the materials you need for cooking are obtained by fishing on killing mobs in the Broken Isles . Some recipes need vendor materials that can be bought from the vendor next to Nomi. A few recipes also needs materials from other professions such as herbs or gem chips.
To help speed up farming, I recommend the Boon of the Harvester shoulder enchant for herbs and fish, or the Boon of the Butcher shoulder enchant for meat.
Feasts require +300 stat foods and slices of bacon. Bacon is obtained through world quests. In order to see the world quest you need to have a cooking skill of at least 75. You’ll be able to get 5-15 bacon per toon depending on which world quest is available so it’s a good idea to do this on a few alts. It’s also a good idea to keep an eye on the auction house and buy if you see a good deal since bacon is likely to be the limiting factor in feast production.
What to sell
The main food you want to sell to maximise your profit is the Lavish Suramar Feast which is used in raids. I find these sell best in stacks of 20, and as with most raid consumables are in more demand on raid reset day.
I’ve also done well selling +375 stat food and Fighter Chow, as these are often popular for mythic +. If you run out of bacon but have excessive amounts of the +300 stat food that goes into the feasts you could consider selling these for others to use to make feasts, but this will be lower profit.
Another trick for some extra gold is to sell the vendor ingredients for a small profit, taking advantage of players who don’t know where to buy them or are too lazy to go there. I post these in stacks of 50 and 200, and have a steady small income from them with little effort.
